U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier delayed the start of trial just 24 hours before it was set to get underway so that BP can discuss settlement with the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee (PSC). The PSC represents thousands of individuals and businesses who were negatively affected by the April 20, 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion and subsequent oil spill.

Trial is set to begin on March 5 in New Orleans federal court. While not guaranteed, rumors persist that the two sides are nearing settlement.
